Story: more than just words

Welcome to The Story Shaman blog: Wisdom & Biscuits.

Storytelling is a powerful tool.

It’s a way to move hearts and minds. A way to inspire change. Stories are the medium through which we share knowledge and pass down our wisdom. It’s how we experience and process feelings we would otherwise find hard. Stories are the collective’s way to let the subconscious do some of the heavy lifting.

Gifted storytellers shape stories for us and messages that resonate, persuade, and sing to our hearts.

They are our medium of choice.

The work of The Story Shaman takes the idea of ‘story’ deeper.

What inspired me was the state of everything.

I started to feel in my bones the need to not only tell better stories (about both ourselves and what is possible), but to help BRING THEM TO LIFE.

That’s why the work here doesn’t stop at helping you find your story so you can tell it to others.
We venture further, into the heart of what it means to live the story you’re trying to become.

That’s work from the inside out. Story you can feel in your bones. Story that will galvanise and lift you (and hopefully all of us) to new levels.

I realized I needed a new definition.

Whether you’re in a threshold moment of personal transformation…
Or a changemaker struggling to land the story with the people who need to hear it…
Or working deep inside a system, quietly planting seeds of hope and possibility...

Story is more than just words. It’s the magic formula for becoming who the world needs you to be. That means embodying the gift and medicine that only you can bring us.

A gift that I believe is critical to helping us shape the future we urgently need.

Think about your story as:

  • What matters most

  • The decisions you’re making

  • The way you choose to move through the world

  • The structures and blocks you set up around yourself

  • What you tolerate

  • What you don’t tolerate

  • The way you interact and engage

And start by asking yourself:

  • What do you care about most?

  • Are the choices you’re making in tune with your heart?

  • What would happen if you stopped asking for permission to be who you want to become?

  • How would you move differently?

  • What would need to change?

Which brings me to the word Shaman.

I don’t claim cultural ownership of the traditional practices of Shamanism, though they’ve inspired and informed my own spirituality. I use the word here as an archetype, to describe the path we walk together into the underworld of what matters to you most. We’ll meet at the gate, and explore what lives beneath the surface so we can claim the gold and bring it back for you and our community.

I’m so looking forward to sharing more with you and walking the path with you here.

Have a question or comment? I’d love to hear from you.

And if you’re curious and feel called, book in a free story breakthrough call with me here and let’s open the gate, shall we?
